Marriage

A wedding celebration is a special, grace-filled time in one's life. Through the Sacrament of Marriage, Christ is made sacramentally present in the union of love between a man and a woman. This important event, in which you pledge commitment to one another and to Christ, requires thoughtful preparation and prayerful reflection, as outlined in the 1994 policy of the Catholic Bishops of the State of Wisconsin.

Who May Marry

  • Current members of Saints Peter and Paul

  • Couples in which at least one party is a registered and participating member of SS. Peter & Paul

  •

Weddings at SS. Peter & Paul are generally scheduled:

  • At least 9 months in advance

  • For Saturdays at either 11:00 AM or 2:30 PM

  • Outside the seasons of Lent and Advent
  •

    Marriage Preparation

Following the Guidelines issued by the Catholic Bishops of the State of Wisconsin, the following steps are normally part of Marriage Preparation at Saints Peter and Paul. To begin this process, please contact the Rectory.

    1. Archdiocesan Enrichment Program for the Engaged. A one-day, or overnight event to be completed seven to nine months before your wedding.

    2. FOCCUS:  Pre-marriage Questionnaire and Inventory. Usually requires two evenings, one to take the inventory, one to review it. A married couple from the parish will administer the inventory to you and help you interpret and discuss your results. This process is designed to affirm the strengths of your relationship, as well as point out areas that the couple may need to explore further.

    3. Discussions with the Priest. Approximately six to twelve months before your wedding date, you should begin meeting with the priest. These meetings may include the following:

  • Pre-nuptial questionnaire of sacramental history
  •
  • Affidavits of others who testify that you are free to marry
  •
  • Baptismal Certificates. This copy must be dated within six months of your wedding date.
  •
  • Other documents as required
  •
  • Marriage License
    1. Preparation for the Wedding Liturgy. Approximately four to five months prior to your wedding date, you should contact the Director of Liturgy and Music to begin preparing your celebration.
