Ministry/Group Name
A Night To Remember

Commission
Pastoral Care

Mission/Purpose
The Church calls each member to participate in the Ministry of Consolation through the pastoral care of the dying, prayer for the dead and the comfort of those who mourn.

The Night To Remember, celebrated on the Feast of All Souls, November 2nd, brings together the family members of those parishioners who have died in the previous year. Stories and a simple meal are shared; participants then gather in Church with the Parish Community for prayer.

Regular Activities
The Night To Remember is one aspect of a month-long commemoration and prayer for the deceased of the parish. Family members are encouraged to add pictures of their loved ones to a table of remembrance in the gathering area of the church. Special prayers of petition and a Book of the Dead are given places of prominence in the liturgy during this month.

Spiritual Growth/Benefits of Participating in this Ministry
Family members are supported through the sharing of fellowship and prayer with each other and then again through the prayer of the entire faith community.

The parish at large and those who minister more specifically with the grieving benefit as well through being God's instruments of care for their brothers and sisters.

Specific Requirements to Consider if Participating in this Ministry
A minimum of time and commitment is required. We welcome anyone interested in helping.
